Yesterday was a day to remember for everyone at White House Day Care as we welcomed Pennsylvania Representative Jacklyn Rusnock, a passionate supporter of Early Childhood Education. Her visit allowed our staff and students to showcase the amazing work going on in our classrooms and to demonstrate how high-quality early learning experiences positively affect children and families.
During her visit, Representative Rusnock joined our preschoolers for an engaging story time session that was full of giggles and imagination. It was heartwarming to see the kids so involved and excited to share their learning with someone who understands the value of a solid educational foundation.
After story time, we had a fun trip on the Polar Express! The children’s excitement was contagious as they set off on this magical classroom adventure, perfectly rounding off what had already been an inspiring morning.

Beyond the fun and smiles, visits like this mean a lot for our center and the early education community. When legislators see the dedication and creativity in our programs, it fosters a better understanding of our successes and the challenges we face. This awareness is crucial for creating policies that support educators, families, and children throughout Pennsylvania.
We feel honored to have hosted Representative Rusnock and appreciate her ongoing support for young learners. Knowing we have a strong voice for early education in Harrisburg inspires us as we strive to nurture and educate the next generation.
Why Legislative Visits, Like Representative Jacklyn Rusnock’s to White House Day Care, Matter
Legislative visits are crucial for the childcare sector. They give lawmakers a unique chance to witness the hard work, skill, and commitment that early childhood educators bring to their jobs every day. When legislators walk into classrooms, they truly see the intricacies of early education—the milestones children achieve, the caring bonds formed, and the essential groundwork laid for learning that lasts a lifetime.
These visits also highlight the ongoing challenges we face, especially the staffing shortage driven by low wages. Our teachers are deeply dedicated, yet the financial aspects of the job make it tough to attract and keep talented educators. By seeing these struggles firsthand, lawmakers can grasp the urgency behind the need for policies and funding that support fair pay and sustainable careers for those working in early childhood education.
Such interactions transform policy talk into real-life experiences, reminding lawmakers that pouring resources into early education is an investment in children, families, and the future of our communities.
Thank you again, Representative Jacklyn Rusnock, for your time, support, and belief in the power of early learning!
